Altec Model 19 grounding (thank you)

This weekend I finally got around to improving the grounding of my stock crossovers. I added a star ground from the four points and fixed a bad solder connection on one crossover. Sonics I can't really put a finger on but I have been able to move the right speaker back around 3" so far improving the system balance. It has been well forward of the left speaker for years now. I wanted to thank you all for posting this simple fix especially for those of us with early versions of this speaker. In addition to damping the horns and sealing the cabs this mod has improved my listening experience. I'm still awaiting caps to redue my second set of crossovers and will post some impressions once they are finished and broken in some.

Of note, I posted the great match between a Quad 303 amp and the 19's a few weeks ago. This last week I soldered up a Magnequest Ingot circuit which includes 10k/10k B7 high nickel transformers to a 10k P&G volume pot. With a low impedance source, this is an impressive little passive preamp and matches very will with the 303 and 19's.

    Happy listening!
